Jute Theatre School
The JUTE Theatre School offers quality professional theatre training for young people aged 9 – 18+. Theatre is for everyone! If you are excited about the idea of developing your acting, stage craft and ensemble work then JUTE Theatre School will develop your creative skills and deepen your understanding of acting as a professional practice. Classes for our 2018 Term 4 with facilitator Mark Sheppard and Taeg Twist are finished on December 12. Aw, you missed it! We will reopen the school in 2019. Check back in January for more details.
Bukal At Woodford
Following on from JUTE Theatre Company’s wildly successful Cairns season, and its extensive ten week tour of Indigenous communities in the Far North, Bukal by Andrea James will be presented at the Woodford Folk Festival! Don’t miss this opportunity to see this inspirational tale of Henrietta Marrie (Fourmile) and her journey from her home in the community of Yarrabah to the United Nation’s global stage. Performances at Woodford will be from December 27- January 1.
This Write Sparks 101 playwriting development stream is open to first time participants to the Write Sparks program, new regional writers with little or no knowledge of writing stories for performance. The 2018 Program is winding down for the year, but be sure to contact JUTE in mid to late January 2019 to apply to join this amazing development program.
This Write Sparks – JUTE Writers in Residence stream has hosted 8 experienced playwrights in 2018, extending their writing practice and supporting their work toward a finished writing draft of a full length play for theatre production. In 2019, you’ll be seeing some of this work in further development, so stay in the loop!
