The team at JUTE Theatre is calling on its Cairns community for a leg up this Christmas in its aim appoint a Development Officer.
Creative Partnerships Australia have come to the party already, pledging it will match, dollar for dollar, 100 per cent, every tax deductible donation made to JUTE in the lead up to Christmas by the FNQ community.
According to JUTE Theatre’s CEO and Artistic Director, Suellen Maunder, Creative Partnerships Australia has presented JUTE Theatre with this special fundraising opportunity in recognition of its longevity and outstanding national reputation.
“This is the first time in the theatre company’s 24-year history that it has been acknowledged this way and is a great head start to bring funds into the city and provide employment.”
“For more than two decades JUTE has worked hard to enrich its local community with culture by telling people’s stories and facilitating engagement with the arts. Our work in remote Indigenous communities, with young people and with artists of differing abilities is all part of JUTE’s evolution,” said Ms Maunder.
According to Ms Maunder, the company needs to be sustainable for the next quarter of a century, which is why JUTE’s team is planning to appoint a Development Officer.
“This person will be responsible for generating new revenue streams and sourcing opportunities that will underpin JUTE’s productions, touring into remote FNQ, its theatre school, online writing program and more. We have until early next year to achieve our fundraising goal and we are committed to giving it our best shot.”
“The arts are super-hot to trot right now and in line with Cairns Regional Council’s investment into the renewed cultural vibrancy of our city, JUTE is keen to play a leading role in enhancing its liveability that will in turn create further investment and secure long term growth in our region.”
In short! For every dollar donated to JUTE, Creative Partnerships Australia will double the money; matching every donation, dollar for dollar up to $50,000. For example – every $100 will become $200, every $500 will become $1000 and so on.
