COME BEHIND THE SCENES FOR A SNEAK PREVIEW OF WHAT’S COMING UP
26 June 2015
Sometimes the stars align, people come together and out of the ether comes something spectacular, incredibly moving, or just plain fun.
We think we’ re going to have something close with our next New Works Development with the iconic Mrs Henrietta Marrie, Traditional Owner for Gimuy Walubara Yidinji working with arts presenter, director, actor and creative consultant Rhoda Roberts to workshop ideas and story lines about her life and her people.
Add the story of a man who comes to a small town, with a deadly secret, who may or may not be about to commit murder, by writer Tom Gardiner, and these two new works might just be gracing the stages of JUTE, as well as theatres around the country in the not-too-distant future.
JUTE Artistic Director/CEO Suellen Maunder says: “the wonderful thing about our New Works, is that it creates a friendly, open and intimate setting for people to ask questions, say what they think, observe the processes involved in creating a new script and get behind the scenes of what it takes to bring a play to life.”
New Works Department invites all those interested in theatre to come along for a relaxed evening of informal conversation with the actors, writers, directors, dramaturg and story-tellers. As Suellen says: “It is your chance to see creativity at work.”
