JUTE is a dedicated provider of the Regional Arts Services Network (RASN), delivering free advisory support for theatre makers, artists, and artsworkers across regional Queensland.

The Details:

An initiative of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, The Regional Arts Services Network (RASN) has been empowering the growth of sustainable arts and cultural experiences and careers across Queensland since 2018.

Under the refreshed artform-led model, six cultural institutions have been engaged to deliver the service across the state.

Services available are influenced by the needs of the sector. Some of these services may include: 

  • Career and business development planning
  • Grant writing guidance and application support
  • Mentoring and professional advice
  • Supporting local government arts and culture staff
  • Industry connections and partnership brokering
  • Marketing and audience development advice
  • Workshops and professional development
  • Best-practice resources and templates
  • Promoting and advocating for the regional arts and creative industries

Support is delivered depending on the needs of the artist. This might look like: 

  • One-off advice
  • Short or long-term mentoring
  • Review of business documentation (e.g. grants, marketing plans, proposals)
  • Any artist, artsworker, or group based in regional Queensland (ie outside the Brisbane City Council LGA) is eligible for support.
  • Artists based in Brisbane City Council LGA but delivering activities in the regions will be considered for support.
  • In addition to artists and artsworkers, community organisations and local government are able to access support. If you’re unsure of your eligibility, reach out to info@rasn.au.

While JUTE specialises in theatre, RASN engages Regional Arts Advisors across several artforms, including multi-arts; or there may be a specific advisor who is able to assist with your specific request.

Register at rasn.au, and you’ll be matched up with an advisor best positioned to provide you with support.

JUTE provides theatre advisory state-wide across regional Queensland.

  • Artists wanting support or to engage with RASN must register via the online portal at rasn.au.
  • Once registered, you’ll be matched with a Regional Arts Advisor (RAA) most relevant to your request and artform.
  • Support and engagement with your RAA is goal-focused and responsive to your needs.
  • The service is primarily delivered online, with some opportunities for in-person engagement throughout the year. Contact your RAA for more information.

No, RASN services are free to access for regional Queensland Artists and artsworkers.

Your Regional Arts Advisors for Theatre

Cassandra Ramsay and Jessica Lamb are JUTE’s Regional Arts Advisors for the Regional Arts Services Network, working alongside artists, communities and creative organisations across the region to support connection, opportunity and creative growth. Both are experienced creative producers with deep roots in regional Queensland practice, bringing a shared passion for new work, community engagement and the development of strong regional arts ecologies. Together, they offer a thoughtful, practical and artist-centred point of connection for artists seeking advice, support and pathways for their creative ideas and projects.

Cassandra Ramsay

Cassandra is a creative producer, playwright, and arts marketing specialist based in Yuwi Country/Mackay. She is passionate about connecting artists and audiences while building confidence and curiosity in the creative process. Cass has worked with leading Queensland organisations including HOTA, Home of the Arts, the Judith Wright Arts Centre, Brisbane Powerhouse, Metro Arts, and Brisbane Writers Festival, and co-founded the award-winning THAT Production Company.

Alongside producing independent theatre, she has delivered workshops, poetry readings, fundraising events, program launches and film screenings, championing diverse forms of storytelling and community engagement.

With a strong focus on new Australian work and regional communities, Cass enjoys helping artists shape ideas into bold theatrical moments and shared creative experiences.

Jessica Lamb

Jessica is a creative producer, theatre maker and arts educator living and working on Darumbal Country on the Central Queensland coast. With a breadth of practice spanning professional, independent, community and education contexts, she is committed to developing ambitious and resonant arts experiences that strengthen regional creative ecologies.

Alongside her role as Regional Arts Advisor, Jess currently serves as a Creative Producer for JUTE Theatre Company, where she has led the DARTS (Driving and Activating the Regional Theatre Sector) initiative since its launch in 2024. She is a co-founder and lead creative of Midpoint Theatre Company, and a management committee member of Keppel Coast Arts Council.

An experienced teaching artist, Jess has designed and delivered drama curriculum from Prep to Year 12 and supported tertiary theatre studies programs. She has also expanded her practice into dramaturgy through professional mentorships and is a produced playwright.
