Screens

by Finn o’Branagain

“I wouldn't change my family for the world, but I will change the world for my family.”

Description

Screens is a complex and wryly funny new play in development exploring the relationship between two sisters, one with Down syndrome and one without, as they navigate love, ethics, ableism, and what constitutes a “good life”.

The work is deeply personal. Co-created by artists and parents of children with Down syndrome, and featuring celebrated actor and self-advocate Julia Hales (You Know We Belong Together), Screens blends text, projection, and movement in a visually rich, emotionally resonant production that examines the ethics and values underlying modern pre-natal testing for Down syndrome
